FORT ERIE METEORS TO HOST OHL PRESEASON SHOWDOWN BETWEEN ERIE OTTERS AND NIAGARA ICEDOGS
FORT ERIE, ON – The Fort Erie Meteors are proud to announce that they will host an Ontario Hockey League preseason matchup between the Erie Otters and the Niagara IceDogs on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Fort Erie Leisureplex. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The event marks another exciting milestone in the relationship between the Meteors and the Erie Otters. Over the years, the organizations have worked closely together to help develop players and strengthen the hockey community on both sides of the border. Hosting an OHL preseason game is the next step in continuing that partnership and showcasing the player development pathway from the 905 to the 814.
The Fort Erie Meteors are thrilled to welcome two of the OHL’s premier organizations to town and believe Fort Erie is a deserving community to host an event of this caliber. The game will provide local hockey fans with a unique opportunity to watch some of the OHL’s brightest young talent compete in an exciting preseason atmosphere to kick of the Meteors 70th season.
“We’re excited to bring OHL hockey back to Fort Erie,” said Meteors Head Coach and General Manager Nik Passero. “We’ve built a tremendous relationship with the Erie Otters over the years, and this game is another great example of how our organizations continue to work together to grow the game and create opportunities for players. We believe Fort Erie has earned the opportunity to host an event like this, and we’re looking forward to welcoming both the Otters and the IceDogs to our community.”
The weekend will continue with an exciting start to the Greater Ontario Hockey League season, as the Fort Erie Meteors will open their 2026-27 regular season at home on Saturday, September 12. Details surrounding the Meteors’ Home Opener will be announced once the official GOHL schedule is released.
