Fort Erie Meteors Sign Defenceman Sutter Smith

The Fort Erie Meteors are proud to announce the signing of defenceman Sutter Smith (2009), of Grimsby, Ontario, for the 2026-27 season.

Smith joins the Meteors after spending last season with the Hamilton Steel U18 AAA program. A dependable left-shot defenceman, Sutter also gained valuable junior experience by appearing in five games with the Hamilton Kilty B’s of the GOJHL. He was selected by the Flint Firebirds in the 10th round of the 2025 OHL Priority Selection.

“Sutter is a player we’re really excited to add to our blue line,” said Assistant Coach Brody Power. “He’s a reliable, hardworking defenceman who competes every night and already has a taste of junior hockey. We believe he’s only scratching the surface of his potential, and we’re looking forward to helping him continue his development.”

The Meteors are excited to welcome Sutter and his family to Fort Erie and look forward to seeing him in orange and black this season.
